Cassina's Zig Zag chair was designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1934 and it soon became a design icon, representing one of the first examples of cantilevered solid wood seating. The chair was also one of the first products reissued by Cassina which launched the I Maestri collection in 1973. Zig Zag is made up of four sequential floors that are united in an apparent instability of extreme refinement.
